If you are looking to update the current style of your home, but you are not quite sure which way you want to go, there are a few ways you can approach the matter. You can either browse various design magazines and draw the inspo from them, you can check out different pinboards on Pinterest or you can consider these tricks taken from the pros that will ensure you’re left with a beautiful interior you’ll be able to enjoy for many years to come.

If this sounds appealing to you, keep on reading, as well explore some of the most interesting ways you can spruce up your home and add a breath of fresh air into your interior.

Make a statement with your décor

First, if you’re looking to change décor up a bit in your home, instead of filling it with numerous different items and trinkets, aim at making a statement with your décor by choosing an oversized statement piece. This can be either a stunning piece of wall art or an oversized wrought-iron framed mirror you can hang above your sofa in the living room. Alternatively, you can even choose to create a statement gallery wall and display your favorite pictures or photos and let them speak for themselves.

Set the tone right from the very beginning

The most commonly overlooked part of any home is definitely the entryway. To avoid making the same mistake as many a homeowner, you should pay attention to this part of your home and use it as a sort of a prelude for the rest of your home design. Make sure you layer different lighting solutions in your hallway to make it bright – as this is usually the darkest part of a home, and use it to display some interesting and practical décor, such as a DIY key holder, a massive statement coat hanger and an interesting umbrella stand.

Layer, layer, layer

One of the easiest and probably the most budget-friendly way to elevate the style in your home is by layering different items, pieces, fabrics and materials throughout your home. For instance, in the living room, you can layer area rugs of different sizes on top of each other, add colorful throw pillows of different sizes on your sofa – bigger, solid color ones in the back and smaller, patterned ones in front of them. Furthermore, add throw blankets to your sofas and armchairs as well and layer contrasting window curtains for the maximum effect.

Choose the right furniture

Furthermore, if you’re looking to make a significant change in your living room, you can easily do it by simply replacing the main piece of furniture – the sofa. When browsing sofas, make sure you go for something that offers plenty of seating, is very, very comfortable and looks absolutely stunning, to ensure that you’ve made the right choice. Additionally, you can even choose a modular or recliner sofa so that it can double as a pull-out bed if you are ever in the need for one.

Mix and match

Finally, you can choose to mix and match different styles or eras in your home design. While opting for a single style can definitely look nice, it can also sometimes feel a bit too sterile.  So, in order to make sure you end up with a stimulating and beautiful environment, choose to combine pieces from different eras and different style and make them work together. A good way to combine these seemingly incompatible pieces is to paint them the same color and make their new hue the thing that ties them together. Additionally, by bringing in and combining a few obviously different pieces, you will add another dose of interest to the room, making the eyes of the beholder motivated with curiosity.

Of course, these were just some of the tricks you can choose to implement in your interior if you’re looking to spruce the space up a bit and change some things around. The main point is to determine what you want to create and what you want your end result to be. Only then will you be able to put together a truly inspiring interior that will keep you happy for a long time
